Howard Rollins is Director of the Office of International Education and Professor of Psychology. He provides leadership to a staff of 15 professionals devoted to facilitating study abroad opportunities for Georgia Tech Students, assisting international students to obtain visas and adjust to the academic and social life of Georgia Tech, and fostering initiatives to further internationalize Georgia Tech. Dr. Rollins also provides leadership to the university in support of its efforts to develop international initiatives both on campus and around the world. Most recently, he has collaborated with faculty and administrators across the university to develop the International Plan, an intensive, degree-long program designed to instill global competence for undergraduates in any discipline. In addition, he is chairing the Singapore Steering Committee which, in collaboration with interested faculty, is developing plans for new research and education initiatives in Singapore. He also serves on the China Coordinating Committee that provides campus-wide coordination of Georgia Tech’s initiatives across China. Professor Rollins was recently elected to the Executive Committee of the Association of International Education Administrators – an organization that provides national and international leadership in international education.

Formerly, Howard Rollins was Executive Director of the Institute for Comparative and International Studies, Director of the Center for International Programs Abroad, and Professor of Psychology at Emory University. In addition, while at Emory, Professor Rollins served as Chair of Psychology and Associate Dean of Emory College. He was awarded the Marion M. Creekmore Award for Contributions to International Education in 2001. Professor Rollins has been the recipient of several research grants, grants in support of international education and is author of numerous articles dealing with child development. He has lived abroad on research leaves on two occasions both times in London and has directed summer study abroad programs in England on numerous occasions. His BA in Psychology is from a rival ACC university, Wake Forest, and his MA and PhD in Psychology are from the University of California, Los Angeles.
