International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.

Adults - $20 Child - $10

       All payments should be in the form of a check or money order. Payments to the US Department of State and US Postal Service should be separate. (e.g. one check or money order to US Dept of State for $75, one check or money order to US Postal Service for $25)

           Proof of Citizenship (1 Required)

    • Certified Birth Certificate (Includes official seal) OR
    • Naturalization Certificate (If naturalized citizen) OR

    • Consoler’s Report of a Birth Abroad

    *Birth certificates must be certified copies and not photocopies.

 All applicants must bring 2 identical passport photos (2” x 2”) if not purchasing photos on-site.

Wednesday, November 18th

Career Preparation for the Global Workplace

OIE is collaborating with Career Services to offer this unique workshop-style event. This session is designed for anyone who has studied abroad, is thinking about studying abroad, or is an international student at Georgia Tech.

Topics covered will be:

- skills acquired through study abroad experiences or through the international student experience

- learning how to articulate those skills on your resume, cover letter, and in interviews

- examining cross-cultural differences in the workplace

Detailed schedule:

Part I - 3:00-3:30: Introduction, explanation of skills gained through international experiences, what employers are looking for in job candidates

Part II - 3:30-4:30: Learn how to integrate your study abroad or international student experiences

Into your resume, cover letter, and interviewing techniques

Part III - 4:30-5:30: Interactive exercise on cross-cultural communication differences in the workplace


Thursday, November 19th

Cross Cultural Simulation

This is an opportunity to try BARNGA, a fun intercultural simulation. This is highly

participatory activity in which you can “learn” a new culture and experience interacting

with people from other cultures. Discussion of the experience will follow. Join us for a fun

and interactive intercultural event.

Scholarship Symposium

5:00 pm—7:00 pm

Student Success Center, President’s Suites B,C&D

The Scholarships Symposium will showcase GT students study abroad experiences to the GT community and encourage prospective students to seek out and apply to various study abroad scholarships, as well as give you the tools to write a competitive scholarship essay.

5:00 - 6:00 PM, Poster Session Browsing and Information Fair:
Join us to view poster presentations from returned study abroad participants and scholarship recipients. Various representatives from local and national scholarship opportunities, such as the Rotary Club, Gilman Scholarship, and other prestigious scholarships, will also be there to answer questions.

6:00 - 7:00 PM, Essay Writing Workshop:
The Office of International Education and the LCC Writing and Communications Program will co-host a workshop on essay writing for scholarship applications. Please join us to learn how to choose a topic, develop a personal statement, and be competitive in when applying to scholarships.

Yes, it's that time of the year again! Every year we bring this special event and deliver exciting performances, delicious authentic Taiwanese food, and games to about 300 people in Atlanta. We have coordinated this year's event with Emory TASA and GSU TASA! The purpose of this event is to introduce Taiwanese culture to everyone in Atlanta , and also let

the audience “experience a trip to Taiwan.” You not only get FREE FOOD but also FREE GAMES & PERFORMANCES! If you would like to get involved in our performance program for the night, please contact Ginger Tsai at gingertsai@gatech.edu
